Hey Fam,
HAPPY 4th OF JULY!!!! Today to celebrate
the
4th we are going to meet up with some
other missionaries in Agrigento
(city nearby) and have a BBQ so that's
American. Haha
This week was a very interesting one, a
lot of neat things happened.
Like I said last week, this week we had
the opportunity to go to
Catania and meet our new mission
president. His name is President
Pickerd. Him and his wife actually
served in the great Italy Rome
Mission some years ago so that's pretty
neat. The conference went good
though. Learned some new things and got
to see a ton of mission
friends. We ate a lot of Granita at the
conference and in the city.
For those who don't know Granita is like
shaved-ice or a slushee on
steroids. It's probably my favorite
thing. It's dang good. I'd
recommend it if you ever get the chance.
Also at the Catania
conference the Elders from Malta came
and I got to see one of my
favorite ex-companions from Rome, Anziano
Castillo. I haven't seen him
in a while but it's always a fun thing
to see an old companion.
Especially when you got along so well.
Love that guy.
Also this week here in Sciacca they are
having their annual St. Peter
festival. Sciacca is a fishing town.
Peter fished. So it works out.
But they have this Carnival thing down
at the harbor and a bunch of
street vendors and stuff. It was pretty
neat. The coolest thing, for
me, was Saturday night. They set up a
big projector for the Italy -
Germany soccer game. So like a thousand
people gathered around at game
time to watch it. It was super cool.
I've always seen videos of people
in Europe gathered in town squares to
watch important soccer games
together but I've never been able to be a
part of it until now.
Unfortunately, though Italy lost in the
end after 9 penalty kicks.
Everyone was sad Sunday morning haha. I
was sad too though.
Well I guess that's about all the
updates for the week. The rest of the
time was filled with blue Sky's,
pristine seas, and lots of sweat and
humidity while preaching the good word.
This Saturday we have transfer
calls so let's see what happens, I'm
expecting a change here in
Sciacca but with a new mission president
who knows what's going to
happen. Anyways, love you all. Have a
good week. And stay classy!
