P-Day in Bovina and a "Can Do" Attitude

Hey fam,

So I made it through my first full week here in Foggia. We're still
alive so that's what's important I guess.

This week, like most weeks, was pretty normal. Nothing super crazy or
unexpected happened. We had an activity in church on Saturday. We were
going to make pancakes and watch “Meet the Mormons”. So I made pancakes.
The movie didn't work out because of technical difficulties BUT
everyone loved the pancakes so that's what's important I think haha.

Honestly, right now as I'm writing this I'm trying to think of anything
cool that happened and I really can't. For most of the week we were in
a trio because one of the other missionaries here in Foggia had to go
pick up his permission of stay in a different city. I don't like being
in a trio. Missionary work is better in two, that's for sure.

Well in other news this week I've been thinking a lot about how our
attitudes can change our lives. I often say "not with that attitude"
to people who tell me that they can't do something. Usually I say it
in a very sarcastic or funny way but in the end it holds a lot of
truth. If we believe we can't do something, we've already decided
that we will never accomplish that goal, that we will never reach our
full potential, that we will never make it to places we never thought
possible. The phrase "believe in yourself" is said often and is very
undervalued as a phrase. I truly believe that if we believed in
ourselves more we would do extraordinary things. So Imma try and do
that. You should try it too :)

Today for pday we went and saw a castle. It was cool.

My 20th Birthday and Leaving Sciacca

Ciao Tutti,

This week was weirdly long. We had so many things to do and it seemed
like every day was so full of stuff and yet the week went by slow.
Weird. Anyways let's talk about it.

So I left Sciacca on Wednesday. Saw a bunch of people and said bye to
Them. It was sad but it was okay in the end. So Wednesday we got up at
like 5:30 and went to get a bus (1.5hr bus ride) to go to Palermo
which was followed by a train trip (9hr) to Napoli. We stayed the
night there and ate some wayyyyyy good pizza. It's the place where
pizza was invented so it's good. Then we stayed the night there.
Thursday morning, we got on a train to Caserta (50min) and then another
train to Foggia (1.5 her ride) and then me and my new comp finally
made it to our new city.

So Foggia is a pretty cool city. It's not super big but not super
small either. It's medium. We have a really nice church building that
stands all by itself. Honestly I don't know much about the city. It's
cleaner than Sicily so that's cool. Also the weather has been very
cool. Saturday it got down to 50 which was weird. But after the heat
in Sciacca, I won't complain.

My new comps name is Anziano Jensen. He's from Connecticut. He's been
in the mission like 3 months less than I have and we get along really
well. I really like the guy. We both crack sarcastic jokes all the
time so I think we will get along just fine. Also he's 21. He looks
older though.

My birthday was yesterday!!! I'm 20 now. It wasn't a bad
birthday but it didn't really feel like a birthday. Nobody in church
knows me so it's not like a huge party was thrown for me. It was just
kinda peaceful and we did missionary work. Wasn't bad haha but thanks
for those who sent the birthday wishes cuz I really did appreciate
them. Also today I bought of a pair of birthday shoes for €25. Even on
my birthday I find the good deal.

Anyways, I'm really happy for this next chapter of my mission to start.
I'm feeling really good about it and it should be a good one. I love
you all and hope you have a great week. Ciao ciao
