Hey fam,
So a lot of stuff was happening this
week and it all went down real
fast so let's run through the
highlights.
1. Monday was mine and Covalts last
Sunday so we made a lasagna
together and it was dope
2. Wednesday we took a 4.5 hour train
ride to Taranto for transfers.
It was a long train ride.
3. In Taranto I ate some good Panzerotti
which is basically a baked or
deep fried calzone thing with mozzarella
and red sauce in it and it's
good.
4. Thursday morning picked my bro and new
companion Anziano Eldridge
at the station. We've already been comps
when we were back in Rome but
now the swag duo is back together and we
finna do some work in
Catanzaro.
5. I LOVE MY COMP! It's basically a
party every day here in Catanzaro
between all the times we do missionary
work we are either laughing,
making jokes, laughing, or talking about
how swag college is going to
be when we're rooming together at BYUI.
It's a good time
Anyways as you can see this week was
pretty solid. Sunday we had a
good time and then an even better time
over at the Branch Presidents
house for lunch. This week I've been
thinking a lot about food,
because I'm fat. But I gotta say that
even though I complain about how
much I miss a nice BBQ bacon Cheeseburger
or Taco Bell, nothing hits
the spot like a nice Pasta with Ragu
followed up with some fresh bread
in the middle of the country in Italy.
It's good stuff.
Pretty much all of these food thoughts
have brought me to two
different conclusions. 1. I need to work
out more. 2 appreciate the
journey. Let me explain the second one
because the first one is
obvious. You don't eat a nice plate of
Pasta only thinking about that
last bite. You savor every little bit of
that delicious tomato sauce.
You pick out the taste of the basil and
the kick of them spicy
Calabria Pepperoncini. Basically this is
a parable for life and I've
really been thinking about this a lot.
As a missionary a lot of people
make the mistake, and I do this too, of
looking foreword to your last
day. Till your time is up. But I'm
starting to realize how dumb that
is. You got a once in a lifetime
opportunity and you're looking
foreword to tomorrow? As Professor
Harold Hill, one of the principal
characters in the show, The Music Man,
would say, “You pile up enough
tomorrows, and you’ll find you’ve
collected a lot of empty
yesterdays.” In the end, make the most
out of today because memories
aren't made tomorrow, they are made
right now. We have the privilege of
being here on this earth today. So make
every day what it's commonly
called. A Present.
Love you and have a good week
