So, the beginning of this week was
pretty lame to be totally honest.
Basically we just put up over 100
English course posters throughout
the whole city. (We teach a free English
course to people.) So, yeah,
anyways we are just going to skip ahead
to New Year's
So, midnight on New Years I thought
there was a war outside. When
midnight hit I woke up and literally
bombs were blowing up outside our
house. Honestly, it was cool but I was
too tired to give a crap so I
just went back to sleep.
So, New Year's Day comes around and we
were supposed to clean our house
and we were doing it but then a member
called us and said we were
coming over for lunch. We had a very
very nice meal and played a solid
game of Monopoly. I didn't win but it's
true my Monopoly skills
aren't that good. Anyways, we had a good
time there. I realized that
I'm getting kinda chunky from all the
food I eat so if anyone has some
quick "in-home" workouts I
could do they would be appreciated. But I
gotta get the desire to work out in the
morning. We’ll get there
though.
Also New Year's Day our mission
president called us up and said he was
flying down tomorrow to Catanzaro to
come see us and then said he
wanted to meet with our landlord. I was
like "uhhhhhh..,. Ok" So
Saturday morning Prez and his wife come
down and met us and our
landlord (Danilo.) He is a really cool
guy and has a lot of interest
in the church. Basically President said
that he needs to get on this
church game right now and start helping
the missionaries and Danilo
was like "swag" (he didn't
actually say swag cuz I'm translating) but
it was dope. Prez then said he would
come down for Danilo’s baptism and
I'm like "bro that's commitment."
So it was cool. Then Prez took
us out to buy pizza and gelato. I like
when people buy me food.
So Sunday comes around and we had a lot
of people in church because
President was there. It was nice. Also,
we went to our branch
President’s (local church leader) house.
We had a nice pranzo and then
played some games after. Let's just say
that I've never laughed so
hard in my life. I loved it.
Anyways, spiritually this week I've been
thinking about New Years and
what it means and I thought about the
story of Lot’s wife. Basically
Lot and his family are told by God to
get out of Sodom and Gomorrah
(spelling?) and the only thing he said
was "don't look back" and while
they were leaving Lot’a wife decides to
look back and she becomes a
pillar of salt. Why? She looked back
longing to be in the city she was
leaving, longing to live in the past.
She probably never even thought
that her future could be better than her
past. So with this new year
starting I invite you all to do the
same. Live your life looking
forward. Don't live in the past because
tomorrow is the beginning of
the rest if your life.
